Abstract:

An algal bloom in 2018, in the Channel Islands Harbor instigated [SJ1] the Channel Islands Neighborhood Council to begin testing the waters in the Harbor. The reason for this was to see if data would prove the bloom was caused by excessive nutrient runoff from the agricultural fields alongside the Edison Canal. The Edison Canal’s only outflow is through the Channel Islands Harbor since the closure of the Mandalay Generating Station. Water sampling testing has been conducted at four sites total.
